Rawalpindi, October 24, 2024: In collaboration with the District Health Authority Rawalpindi, the Rotary International Pakistan National Polio Plus Committee and Rotary Club of Rawalpindi organized a ceremony to honor polio heroes at the Government Degree College Rawalpindi on the occasion of World Polio Day.
The event was attended by esteemed guests, including Shazia Rizwan, Member of the Punjab Assembly, who was the Chief Guest. Other notable attendees included Past District Governor Masrur J. Scheik, Zonal Coordinator Nosherwan Khalil Khan, CEO of the District Health Authority Rawalpindi Dr. Asif Arbab Khan Niazi, DOH (PS) Dr. Ehsan Ghani, and WHO Area Coordinator Dr. Shumaila Akbar.
Rotary Club members from Rawalpindi and Islamabad, health department officials, and the frontline polio workers—who are the true heroes in the fight against this disease—were present at the ceremony.
Speakers at the event praised the tireless efforts and dedication of the polio workers, highlighting their critical role in eradicating polio, often under challenging conditions.
In recognition of their selfless service, the polio workers were awarded Recognition Certificates for their commitment and dedication.
Rotary Club of Rawalpindi was awarded the Special Recognition Award for their dedication and commitment in the fight against Polio.
The services of PP. Rashid Mashkoor, PP. Zahid Bashir Mirza, Rtn. Karamat Rathore were recognized in the ceremony.
The ceremony concluded with a polio awareness walk.
